GRESIK, tretan.news – Presiden Joko Widodo secara resmi meresmikan smelter PT Freeport Indonesia yang berlokasi di Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus (KEK) Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE) di Kabupaten Gresik, Jawa Timur, pada Senin (23/09/2024).
Peresmian ini menjadi tonggak sejarah dalam upaya hilirisasi industri pertambangan Indonesia dan diharapkan memberikan dampak besar terhadap perekonomian nasional.
Dalam sambutannya, Presiden Jokowi menegaskan pentingnya peran smelter ini dalam meningkatkan nilai tambah produk tambang Indonesia. Smelter tersebut diproyeksikan mampu menyumbang pendapatan negara hingga Rp 80 triliun per tahun melalui berbagai sumber, termasuk pajak, deviden, royalti, dan kontribusi lainnya.
“Pembangunan smelter ini adalah bagian dari upaya besar kita dalam mengurangi ketergantungan pada ekspor bahan mentah. Dengan mengolah mineral di dalam negeri, kita meningkatkan penerimaan negara dan menciptakan lapangan kerja baru,” ujar Presiden.
Smelter yang terletak di Manyar, Gresik, ini dirancang untuk mengolah konsentrat tembaga, emas, dan perak dalam jumlah besar, menjadikannya salah satu fasilitas pengolahan mineral terbesar di dunia.
Proyek ini merupakan salah satu pilar utama dalam visi pemerintah untuk menjadikan Indonesia sebagai pusat industri pengolahan mineral global.
Turut mendampingi Presiden Jokowi dalam acara peresmian ini adalah Menteri Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) Erick Thohir, Gubernur Jawa Timur Khofifah Indar Parawansa, serta sejumlah pejabat tinggi lainnya. Setelah meresmikan smelter dengan simbolis menandatangani plakat peringatan, Presiden dan rombongan berkesempatan melakukan tur keliling fasilitas smelter.
“Saya resmikan smelter PT Freeport Indonesia di Kabupaten Gresik ini, dan semoga membawa manfaat besar bagi negara kita,” ucap Jokowi.
Keberadaan smelter ini diharapkan dapat mendorong pertumbuhan industri hilir dan menarik lebih banyak investasi asing ke Indonesia. Proyek ini juga dianggap sebagai langkah strategis dalam menjadikan Indonesia sebagai pemain utama di pasar logam dunia.
Sementara itu, Kapolres Gresik AKBP Arief Kurniawan mengungkapkan bahwa pengamanan selama kunjungan kerja Presiden berjalan lancar dan kondusif berkat kerja sama antara Polres Gresik, Kodim 0817/Gresik, serta Pemerintah Daerah Kabupaten Gresik.
“Alhamdulillah, seluruh rangkaian acara berjalan dengan aman dan lancar berkat sinergi berbagai pihak dalam menjaga kondusifitas selama kunjungan Presiden di Smelter Freeport,” ujar Kapolres Gresik.
